Λ̄/p̄ RATIOS IN HEAVY ION COLLISIONS AT 11.6 A ·GeV/c

چکیده

We attempt to explain the Λ̄/p̄ ratios measured in heavy ion collisions at 11.6 A · GeV/c beam momentum within a hadronic framework. This ratio is enhanced relative to corresponding ratios in pp collisions, and is large when compared with thermal fits to heavy ion data. Using a detailed cascade calculation, we show that different annihilation cross–sections of Λ̄’s and p̄’s, and the net conversion of p̄’s to Λ̄’s, do not account for the enhancement in central collisions. For larger impact parameters, however, hadronic mechanisms may well suffice to produce the observed enhancement. Uncertainties in elementary cross–sections and formation times are considered.

O ct 2 00 5 Non - identical particle correlations at 62 and 200 GeV at STAR

We report on STAR analyses of p−Λ, p̄−Λ̄, p−Λ̄, p̄−Λ, p−p̄ and π−Ξ correlations in Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 62 and 200 GeV. Measured source sizes in p(p̄)−Λ(Λ̄) and p−p̄ are shown to be in qualitative agreement with flow expectations. Interaction potential between p−Λ̄, p̄−Λ was investigated by measuring scattering length, thus showing that correlation analyses in heavy-ion collisions can be used to s...

High-pT Pion Quenching versus anti+Baryon Enhancement in Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions

Jet quenching of quarks and gluons in central A + A collisions suppresses the high-pT meson production and exposes novel baryon dynamics that we attribute to (gluonic) baryon junctions. This mechanism predicts baryon enhancement in a finite moderate-pT window that decreases with increasing impact parameter. We also extend recent calculations of the transverse momentum behavior of p/π and p̄/π to...

M ar 2 00 7 Energy dependence of π ± , p and p̄ transverse momentum spectra for Au + Au collisions at √ s NN = 62 . 4 and 200 GeV

We study the energy dependence of the transverse momentum (pT) spectra for charged pions, protons and anti-protons for Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 62.4 and 200 GeV. Data are presented at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) for 0.2 < pT < 12 GeV/c. In the intermediate pT region (2 < pT < 6 GeV/c), the nuclear modification factor is higher at 62.4 GeV than at 200 GeV, while at higher pT (pT > 7 GeV/c) the m...

New Insight into Antiproton Production and Reabsorption Using Proton-Nucleus Collisions at the AGS

Antiproton (p̄) yields are presented for proton-nucleus collisions, with targets Be, Cu, and Au, at beam momenta of 12.3 and 17.5 GeV/c. In addition to target size and beam momentum, the number of projectile collisions ν, as derived from the number of “grey” tracks (slow protons and deuterons), is used to disentangle the p̄ reabsorption from the production. By quantifying the amount of reabsorpti...
